Thermal Anomaly at the Haunted Bellaire House

Society of the Supernatural has put in a lot of time investigating the notorious Bellaire House in Bellaire, Ohio.

Over the course of our time in the home, we have experienced a wide range of phenomena including ghost lights, evps, phantom smells and even physical contact with something unexplained.

On one of our investigations, we captured a weird thermal anomaly while conducting a spirit box session. A number of unsettling responses were coming from the ghost box with phrases related to a baby and something that "wanted the baby."

Has the box states, very clearly, the word "evil," the camera is panning around towards one of the front rooms and captures what appears to be the upper torso of a person. The image is very clear and in fact is a double image with what appears to be the figure's own shadow cast in a shade of blue.

There was no one in the room at that time, nor are there any reflective surfaces where the figure manifests.

Austin, Texas UFO

On Monday night, residents of Austin, Texas reported a UFO in the skies over the city.

Rachel Jensen and her roommate observed glowing, orange orbs that formed a triangle formation. At one point, they claim that a fourth orb joined the trio before they all rose in altitude and shot away out of sight.

Jensen filmed the event but the recording only shows one of the orbs dancing around in a curious manner.

However, Jensen wasn't the only one to report seeing unusual objects in the sky that night. At least five other people from Texas to Louisiana called the American Meteor Society to report fireballs in the sky.

Christopher Sherman, a photographer in the Austin area also captured shots of the strange object in the Austin skyline. Looking at those photos, it would appear that what he saw at least, did appear to be something like a fireball or shooting star, falling from the sky.

The puzzling aspect is Jensen's footage in which the object does not behave in such a manner at all.

"I believe they were UFOs" Jensen says.

It's possible of course, that both fireballs or meteors and UFOs were all in the skies over Texas on the same evening.

Sadly, as is typical when the mainstream media actually does report on an anomalous event, the news casters spoke with a smirk on their faces and the theme from X-Files playing in the background.

Growling, Black Eyed Boys

Art by Sam Shearon
Samantha in Indiana reports on a creepy experience with a pair of black eyed kids who let out a disturbing

It was early morning, 3:30 AM, and I was leaving my home to go to work. I walked to the garage and pushed the button to open the garage door. As the door was opening, I began to walk to the driver's side door of the car. I got this strong feeling to look up and in the direction of the opening garage door. There stood two children. I jumped...startled. My heart raced.

They just stood there in the opening of my garage. Two boys looking to be about 13 to 15 years old, dressed in dark jeans and dark, pull over hoodies. Both with short, lighter colored hair, almost white. In comparison, one stood closer to the door than the other.

"Hello ma'am," the one closest to me said. The other one stood in the background with a strange smirk on his face.

I managed to get the words out with a shaky voice: "Is there anything I can do for you guys?" I asked.

I swallowed hard, I just got the feeling I needed to run.

Would they chase me into the house where my three children and husband were sleeping? He worked a second shift job.

"We stayed with a friend down the street and we need a ride home. Could you please give us a ride?" The closest boy asked. The boy furthest from me said nothing. He just stood with the same look on his face. He never looked away from me.

I was confused and not thinking clearly, still in shock that someone was standing right outside my garage. I tried to shake the feeling of fear to clear my head enough to talk to these kids. I wondered why the friend's parents that they stayed with wasn't taking them home. Why weren't the parents coming to get them? And why in the world were they up so early looking for a ride?

I finally got enough mind to reply.

"I'm sorry, but I'm going to work. If I stop anywhere, I will be late."

The one boy spoke again: "I'm sure it's on your way. It won't take long."

I looked over to the entrance door contemplating trying to run or just get in my car. When I turned back to the boys, there were side by side now. Their eyes seemed different. As I looked closer, their eyes were black in color. The deepest black I'd ever seen.

I started to feel panic rise inside me. They must have sensed it. They boy that didn't speak started grinning.

I screamed out for my husband, not knowing if he would hear me. Then they both opened their mouths wide and let out this yell, this growl that was so loud I couldn't even hear my own thoughts. I turned and ran for the house door. I slammed the button for the garage door on my way in. I burst through the house door, slamming it behind me and locking it.

I stood there, listening to the garage door going down which let me know they didn't run after me because if they had, it would have tripped the safety laser on the door and the door would have gone back up.

My husband came out of the bedroom wide-eyed, and asked what was going on. All I could manage to get out was there there were people outside.

He ran out the front door. A few minutes later, he came back. He said he didn't see anyone. No one in the yard. No one walking down the street.

Then I started to explain what just happened to me.

Needless to say, I now get in my car first and open the garage door with my remote. I will never open the garage door first again.

Beyond the Seventh Gate: Reviewed

"Don't look behind you on Toad Road!"

So begins "Beyond the Seventh Gate" by Timothy Renner.

The subtitle: "Exploring Toad Road, the Seven Gates of Hell, and Other Strangeness in York, Lancaster, and Adams Counties," is a bit lengthy but makes Renner's intent clear. The book is an exploration into the legend of the area that purportedly contains the seven gates and the associated weirdness that seems to permeate the place.

While this is a regional book and will of course appeal to those living in the area, it's also of interest to those intrigued by concentrated areas of high strangeness. There are a number of lesser known reports included in the book and this alone makes it of interest to those of us who collect such data.

Renner has done extensive research in the area, and not just from an armchair, but out exploring the location for himself while looking into the legends. Stories that include, burning asylums, mad Doctors and more, he strives to separate the myths from the real reports. The back of the book says it well:

"Journey beyond the Seventh Gate and into other weird places in York, Lancaster, and Adams Counties. Explore Hex Hollow, Chickies Rock, lonely graveyards, and old iron forges. Read true tales of bigfoot creatures, witches, ghosts, werewolves, and flying phantoms. Sometimes they haunt the woods behind you. Sometimes they are in your own back yard."

Renner also explores the story of Nelson Rehmeyer, a Pennsylvania Dutch "pow-wow medicine man" who was murdered in 1928. The author's take on the tales that surround Rehmeyer and Pennsylvania's most famous "hex murder" is worth the price of the book alone but he offers much more including UFO accounts, cryptid sightings and ghost stories.

Renner has written for Weird Pennsylvania and Weird U.S.A. as well as Morbid Curiosity. He's also an illustrator and has peppered the book with cool depictions of creatures such as Dogman and Goatman. He's also included photos taken during his explorations of the area.

I recommend the book for those interested in studies of regional creepiness as well as those fascinated by concentrated areas of strange events.

"Are there monsters prowling our fields and forests? Are ghosts singing in our cemeteries? Are orbs and mists following us through the park? Many witnesses say yes."

SOS at the Bellaire House

The Bellaire House, in Bellaire, Ohio is the site of a notoriously dark haunting. Families have found themselves unable to live in the home, reportedly due to demonic activity.

The home's current owner, Kristen Lee, experienced extremely negative events while living in the home, including demonic sounds, physical encounters and incubus attacks.
While Kristen still owns the home, she no longer lives in it and rarely enters. She did join Society of the Supernatural on one of our investigations as we worked to uncover some of the home's secrets.

Society of the Supernatural has, in fact, investigated the house several times, and on each occasion, we encountered negative manifestations including threats over various ghost boxes, foul odors, physical touches and more.

Check out some of the footage from one of our numerous visits to this highly negative location:

Nightcrawlers in Indiana

By far one of the most popular post I've ever made on this blog is the story of the Fresno Nightcrawlers. There's quite a bit of follow up information on the case that I'm still looking into and trying to validate. Unfortunately, such things are often a slow process.

http://twocrowsparanormal.blogspot.com/2012/07/where-are-nightcrawlers.html

Still, not a week goes by that I don't receive questions about the case, most of them asking if there's any new information, or if there have been any more sightings of the weird stick like figures. Curiously, there have been a few sightings here and there that bear some common elements with the weird Nightcrawlers. Some of these are older reports of course and the Nightcrawler moniker didn't appear until the Fresno case. Still, the possible connections are interesting to examine.

Researcher Albert S. Rosales recently dug up a report from January 24, 2004.

In the case below, the joints that "buckle out," the strange, stick like appearance, and the odd movements all sound similar to the Fresno entities.

The time was 7:30 in the evening. The location: Manchester, Dearborn County, Indiana:

A 17 year old motorist traveling almost 10 miles north of Aurora Indiana on Saturday night claims to have encountered an unusual figure on the road. While driving his black Chevrolet Cavalier southbound along North Hogan Road, a "figure" was spotted in the headlights of the automobile. The figure was crouched down near a puddle of water. From the driver's perspective, the figure was spotted out of the windshield on the right of the car.

After passing the frail-looking figure, the driver looked into his rear view mirror and again observed--illuminated by the taillights of his car--what he described as a tall, abnormal figure that moved strangely with pointed joints that "buckled out."
He estimated the figure stood around 6 feet, seven inches. "It had protruding joints and moved very strangely."

The driver said he was able to ascertain the figure, alleged to be dark gray or black, and "pencil thin," stand up and take several steps toward the woods along the roadside. The figure definitely walked on two legs and was thought somehow to be a male, although no clothing was noted. No face or eyes could be seen, but the witness had the impression that the figure was looking straight at him.

The figure was immediately thought to be something out of the ordinary, not a human being. The duration of the sighting was "hurried" and possibly within the 3 to 4 second range. The driver continued on for a small distance after passing the figure and finally put on his brakes, coming to a stop at an estimated 2 minute walking distance on the road from the location of the sighting. He looked back to further observe the entity. At that point, a second car came into view and approached from the opposite direction, passed, and then reached the spot on the road where the figure was thought to be. The 17 year old motorist reportedly watched closely and observed the second car undertake what he thought to be an evasive maneuver near the vicinity of where he thought the figure would be situated, and then the car turned around at that spot and shortly pulled up behind him, somewhat in the grass.

There was an elderly couple in the car, both in their late 60s or early 70s and both with gray hair. The driver, who wore glasses, said,

"Boy, did you see something back there? I'll tell you right now, that was no person."

The passenger, an elderly female said,

"It was no human being, it was no man."

The elderly couple was reportedly "spooked" but offered to follow the first witness the remainder of the trip down North Hogan Road, clearly in the opposite direction of their intended destination route. It was thought that the elderly couple observed this same figure on the opposite side of the road, and possibly had observed it more closely. Later, the 17 year old witness was said to have become hysterical and within an hour was describing the figure as an "alien."

January 2017 BEK Update

Having made a recent trip to Australia, I've returned with some creepy black eyed kid accounts from down under. I recently shared one for the debut episode of Dave Schrader's new show, Beyond the Darkness. Check the show out at the link below, and be sure to give a listen to other great episodes from Dave and Tim as they go Beyond the Darkness!

A remote gas station in Utah, and an encounter with a black-eyed being that initiated a high fever and unexplained illness. A mysterious account posted by Lon Strickler over at Phantoms & Monsters:

http://www.phantomsandmonsters.com/2017/01/malevolent-black-eyes.html

There's also an account I received recently about an encounter with BEKs in Florida. In this case, the witness feels that the entities he saw may have been a manifestation of the angel of death. Read the details in this previous post:

http://twocrowsparanormal.blogspot.com/2016/12/bek-or-angel-of-death.html

One thing that has been very consistent in BEK encounters is the strange comments and requests the children make. From, "Just let us in, this won't take long," to the infamous "Is it food time," the statements often leave people confused and disturbed. One of the oddest I've heard recently is contained in one of the reports from this new video by Mortis Media.

Haunted eBay Items

Having been in the field for so long, I have quite a collection of haunted items. In the "old days" so to speak, such items weren't very desirable to most people. The paranormal wasn't part of pop culture and people who ended up with haunted or cursed objects just wanted rid of them.

Today, it's a different story. Several reality television shows have featured haunted objects. Everyone is aware of the Ed and Lorraine Warren collection that includes the infamous Annabelle, and there are museums devoted to haunted objects.

Because of popular interest, haunted items have become a business. On any given day, a check of popular auction site eBay will reveal an interesting selection of offerings. Many of them are of questionable origin. People buy based on faith or intuition, or perhaps just fascination. How, after all, do you prove on a listing that an item is haunted?

Haunted dolls are a category in and of themselves and make up a large portion of items usually listed for sale. So do rings and pieces of jewelry purported to have spirits or djinn attached to them. Aside from that, there are often more curious items that show up. Perusing current listings, here are some of the more interesting things currently on offer:

First up...well, I'm not quite sure what to call this exactly. As is typical in many of these listings, there are a string of key words in the title to draw attention and this one really tries to run the gamut. It's noted as:

'Satanic, Demonic, Antique, Rare, Haunted, Occult, Voodoo, Ritual, Black Magic, Djinn."

They must have run out of word count before they got to ghost, or perhaps more importantly, alligator because this item is actually some kind of taxidermy creation of an alligator's head with a crystal bowl. I'll let the description speak for it:

"The skin of what appears to be a small alligator encompasses a crystal or thick glass bowl-in which, bone fragments, ash and even incense could be used for ritual purposes. The presence of the skin serves as a summoning element that represents death, and with this, it became a powerful aid in numerous dark, necromantic rituals over the years.

This one has a buy it now option with the low price of $250.00 plus shipping. More info here:

Next up, a listing for a haunted key. Keys are another popular haunted item with numerous listings. This one in particular is from the Rogers Hotel Room 404 in Waxahachie, Texas. The listing opens like this:

"Authentic Haunted Hotel Room Skeleton Key and Fob Historic Rogers Hotel Waxahachie Texas Bonnie & Clyde Stayed Here!
Genuine hotel room skeleton key and fob to a CONFIRMED haunted hotel. room 404."

Now, like me, you probably read that and assumed that 404 was a haunted room and that Bonnie & Clyde stayed at the hotel. But reading a bit further down in the listing, we learn that yes, the 4th floor is reportedly haunted but there is no detail offered about room 404 itself.

We are also told at the end that:

"Frank Sinatra and Bonnie & Clyde are rumored to be past guest at the Rogers Hotel."

There's plenty of accounts of the hauntings at the Rogers so it's certainly interesting in that regard. Some digging into historical records may reveal whether or not some of these historical figures stayed at the hotel, but personally, for a price of $999.00, plus another 75 bucks to ship it (yes you read that right) I would expect this key to have been in Clyde's pocket the day they were shot.

If you're so inclined to bid, check it out here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Haunted-Hotel-Room-Skeleton-Key-Rogers-Hotel-Waxahachie-Texas-Bonnie-Clyde-WOW-/182423333889?hash=item2a79472c01:g:QcsAAOSwtJZXWNbu

Next up, if you're looking for something more than an item to display on a shelf, then look no further than the haunted furniture section where you'll find this gem. Fair warning, you're going to need very deep pockets for this one:

Haunted Wolfe Manor Couch.

Featured in numerous ghost hunting shows, including Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures. From the listing:

"...this antique couch was a hub of activity within the Wolfe Manor. A spirit laid on the couch and communicated with Zak, even to the point of verbalizing Zak's name.

It is truly a one-of-a-kind haunted couch."

On that matter, the listing is certainly accurate. Wolfe Manor has been torn down and this is one of the items rescued from it before the bulldozers moved in. This rare item can be yours for a mere $14,000.00:

Native American BEK Encounters

Lon Strickler over at Phantoms & Monsters has just posted a brief piece about some BEK encounters on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The reservation, in South Dakota, is Oglala Lakota territory. It's a world that most people never step foot into. Steeped in history and tragedy, the reservation is much bigger than people often realize, covering an area larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined.

Typically, Native Americans have a very different perspective on supernatural events due to their unique cultural worldview.

What's really intriguing about these accounts is that I have similar reports from one of the native reservations in the Southwest. Although I have not written about these accounts, I have discussed the topic briefly in a couple of interviews.

Additionally, I've recently received word of some encounters on yet another reservation in a different part of the country. Why the sudden rash of accounts of BEKs on Native land?

According to the report of Phantoms & Monsters, the BEKs that appeared on Pine Ridge asked to come inside, requested food, and during one encounter, asked for blood.

Chimera Farms

How close is the world coming to creatures actually created in a lab?

Genetic creations, hybrids, it all seems to be rushing towards reality.

"We are not near the island of Dr. Moreau, but science moves fast. The specter of an intelligent mouse stuck in a laboratory somewhere screaming, "I want to get out" would be very troubling to people."

Serpent Mound UFO Sighting

The Serpent Mound in Adams County, Ohio is a three foot high effigy mound. Though the site was first documented in the 1840's, much about it still remains a mystery. Originally, the mound was attributed to the Adena culture, but studies in the 1990's pointed to a much earlier construction.

The site has long attracted those who pursue the mysterious and some believe there is a possible Ancient Alien connection. The television show of the same name has in fact featured the Serpent Mound, drawing possible correlations between the ancient site and extraterrestrial visitors.

I received the account below from a witnesses who had an unusual sighting at the Serpent Mound. The encounter reportedly occurred in 2014. The sender chose to remain anonymous, probably due to the fact that the mound itself is a designated historic landmark and the park currently closes at sunset. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, no one is allowed on the mound itself, or on the grounds after hours.

"My girlfriend and I had heard a lot of stories from friends about the Serpent Mound and strange things going on out there. My cousin had told me that he'd seen a UFO himself out near the mound and we were really curious to see if we could spot one. We were out near the park one night, some friends of my cousin live out near it and the three of us decided to go in. Honestly I knew that we were not supposed to be in there but we didn't get on the mound or anything, we just walked into the parking area and we were sky watching.

We were probably only there about ten or fifteen minutes when we heard this weird buzzing sound. It was like an electrical vibration sound. We were looking all around and it sounded like it was coming from above us. My girlfriend was getting freaked out, she thought we were going to get into some real trouble. We went up to the little museum on the chance that the sound was someone there, but it was of course closed.
The walkway from there leads over to the mound and there's a viewing tower right by the mound. That's when we realized the sound was getting louder and that's when we spotted the three orange lights.

They were these three round balls of light and they were over top the Serpent Mound. From where we were, they were about the size of basketballs I guess, but it looked like they kept expanding and getting bigger, then contracting and getting smaller to the basketball size. This could have been a trick of light I guess because as we were standing there, these three orange lights were going back and forth over the length of the serpent. They were tracking the line that the serpent follows. They were all in a line and there was at least a couple of feet or more between them. They did this pattern a bunch of times, picking up speed as they went back and forth. We were all frozen to the spot watching and then my girlfriend made a sound. It was sort of a cry and gasp I would call it. It was weird because when she did this, the orange lights suddenly stopped in mid air, right around the middle of the serpent. It was almost like they had heard her. They just hovered there for a few seconds, then suddenly, they shot straight up into the sky. The went so high and straight up that in a second or two, we couldn't see them at all, they had faded into the sky.
We hightailed it out of there as fast as we could all swearing that we would never go back. It was exciting, but it was really scary at the same time.
The other thing I remember is there being a smell like burned air. We all felt like those lights were aware of us before they took off."

The Fontana Monster Sightings of 66'

August 1966. Two teenagers rushed into the sheriff's office in Fontana, California to report their close encounter with a strange creature.

Jerri Lou Mendenhall, 16, told officers that she and her friend had been driving along a dirt road just north of town when a creature suddenly came out of the bushes and attacked the car.
The creature reached through the driver's window and tried to grab Mendenhall. She quickly hit the accelerator and rushed away but not before a hairy hand brushed against her. The girl showed officers a set of scratches on her neck that she claimed to have received from the monster's large human like hand.
The witnesses described the beast as being at least eight feet tall and "like a gorilla on its hind legs."

The youths were in a hysterical state and described their encounter in great detail. The officers however, were not receptive to the report and made fun of the teens. One official laughed and said to Mendenhall:

"I suppose next you will be telling me that the monster was dressed in a pink bikini and you will expect me to believe that too?"

Angered, the girl retorted to the officer "Sure, of course, it was wearing a pink bikini!"

Still in a distraught state, the teenagers left the office, trying to ignore the laughter of the officers. Unfortunately, the pink bikini comment was picked up by a Los Angeles newspaper which further made fund of the entire account.

But there was more to the story. A number of other teens reported having encounters with a large, hairy creature on the local lover's lane. While law enforcement insisted that there was nothing to the story, at least one officer admitted, off the record, that he had found a huge, four toed footprint at the scene but didn't report it.

Several papers ran stories about Fontana's creature. The San Bernardino Sun-Telegram reported on the monster several times and included numerous witness statements. The Ontario Daily Report informed readers that there were numerous reports of the beast near the old Fontana dragstrip between Foothill Boulevard and Base Line Road. According to the paper, the creature was "A horrible monster with a hairy body, long hands, and claws dripping with slime."

By the end of August, the Daily Report ran a news item about an impromptu hunt for the monster. Sheriff's deputies were called out to reports of shots fired around the race track. Arriving on the scene, they found four teenage boys with a pair of rifles who were "combing the brush and shooting at everything that moved."
The boys were reportedly determined to find the local monster and bring it down once and for all. Officers confiscated the firearms and sent the boys on their way.

It was the last reported sighting of the Fontana monster of the period. While many people tried to play off the accounts as wild stories, the admission by a law enforcement that he found an unusual track implies there may be much more to the story of Fontana's monster.

Encounter in the Italian Alps:1947

Here's a strange encounter that occurred at Villa Santina, near Raveo Carnic in the Alps of Italy. The date was August 14, 1947 and the incident happened at nine a.m.

It'a a fairly early case in terms of UFO occupant lore and bears some curious aspects, including the disappearance of all aluminum from the witness's possession:

"Ascending a mountain stream, the Chiarao, R.L. Johannis came upon a 10-meter wide, lens shaped object of red burnished metal wedged into a rock crack so that it stood on edge. It had a low cupola bearing a thin telescoping antenna like a car's radio, and no openings.

Seeing two "boys" 50 meters away, he called out to them and began to approach them. When he was within 25 meters, he saw that they were midget-sized beings not over 3 ft. tall, wearing dark blue overalls of translucent material, with bright red belts, collars, and cuffs. Their large heads were covered with broad tight fitting caps.
They had immense round yellow green eyes with vertical slit pupils, and a mere slit of a shaped mouth, which kept opening and closing. Their skin was dull greenish; they walked like robots, with arms hanging.

After a couple minutes stupor, Johannis waved his geologist's pick and called out, asking who they were.

At this, one raised his hand to his belt and a thin puff of smoke was emitted; Johannis found himself flat on the ground, paralyzed, and feeling as if he had received an electric shock.

He saw one of the beings pick up his pick with a green hand that had eight fingers; four of them opposite like our thumbs. Then, with small steps, they slowly walked to the saucer.

A few minutes after they entered the rock crack, the disk rose vertically to about 15 ft above the ground (still on edge, "like a gong") & hovered there while Johannis tried to get up but fell back again. The disc tipped a bit and then took off with a blast of wind that rolled Johannis into the stony riverbed.

It was more than 2 hours before he felt able to walk home. When he unpacked his pack, he found that the aluminum objects in it were missing.

At this time, he had never heard of flying saucers."

This incident was originally reported in Flying Saucer Review Vol 13 #1 from May, 1964 and more recently by researcher Albert Rosales.
